Of course his respect differs after meeting someone new but he is absolutely without a doubt always treats women to a high regard.
Versatile: -An expert strategist that use any opportunity to bring his objectives down, using any point of weakness of his enemy that he discovers. As a member of the B.O.P.E. (Batalhão de operações policiais especiais) of Rio Janeiro he has been trained in the many various things such as drug processing, fire arms distribution, handling riots, robbery, and even counterterrorism.
Professional: -Mateo likes to maintain specific relationship boundaries when it comes to work and play. During times of studies or things that he deems as work then he likes to perceive himself as a little strict and distant, but yet encouraging towards his peers. Outside of work he tries to be an easy going young man and often likes to display his playful sense of humor; to him at least. A lot of times it comes across very dark.
Determined: When given a task, Mateo is incredibly determined to make sure that it’s finished and to the best of his abilities. Failure is not an option in his code of life, so at times he can come across very stubborn. He’s very passionate when it comes to his line or work and he believes it is within good reason.
History
Mateo is from Rio De Janeiro, Bazil; born into a small but humble family in the outer limits. He was raised by his father, Manuel Oliveira, a widowed man that lost his wife due to an unfortunately gang violence threat that riddled the streets within their area. Mateo was only two years old during that time, and doesn’t remember much of his mother neither does he pry over the theme either. His father never re-married, and worked as a bakery seller in the neighborhood where he and Mateo lived together.
He grew up in very heavy pauperism where they couldn’t afford much even on his father’s wage to really leave the area. Young Mateo had to grow up street savvy in order to defend himself in dangerous situations and street gangs, community poverty, drug dealings where the usual norm. Around his early years, Mateo witnessed the B.O.P.E., a military police organization within Rio De Janeiro swept over their neighborhood, taking control of it in order to eradicate the injustice that grasped a hold of it.
It was then when Mateo decided that he wanted to become just like those men. At the age of eighteen he finally decided to join the B.O.P.E. but it took some time for his father to consent to the idea; his father being a man heavy influence upon his life. Overtime he became more open to the idea which enabled Mateo to set his life’s course.
He first join the Rio Police Department, dealing with the grueling training and paperwork until he was able to apply for the B.O.P.E., the training was even more of a challenge for Mateo but he endured it and was able to rise within the ranks, becoming a specialist in urban warfare. While settled in the B.O.P.E., Mateo received a participant opportunity to join the Milizia Academy program as an International student abroad. Knowing that WWIII was approaching upon the brink, Mateo found the opportunity very inviting and decided to take full advantage of the offer.
Strengths and Abilities
Expert Strategist:-He uses practical knowledge along what he’s been taught in order to come up with good well thought out plans in the line of offense and defense.
Close Hand Combat: -Mateo has studied various techniques in hand to hand combat. He’s ‘all knuckles upstairs’ from what he’s been told, he packs a really mean punch. His usual fighting styles consists of Capoeira and Brazilian jiu jitus.
Smooth Trigger: Very good firing accuracy and rapid fire. Excellent sense of space and balancing heavier weapons.
Cooking: Mateo believes that he was fortunate to be born in Brazil for one thing, because it is culturally diverse; well…culinary speaking. When he wasn’t in school he was in his father’s kitchen, relishing the wonderful aromas of his cooking and later picked up his gift from him. He is particularly fond of Creole and Brazilian delicacies and always puts a long of spices into his dishes.
Faults and Weaknesses
Poor English: Mateo’s native language is Portuguese. He can speak Spanish fluently and English conversationally but often times he will has some trouble with his English, which he knows is a very important language to learn. Often times he may be perceived as awkward and get lost in translation.
Clumsy: When Mateo is around girls or with new people especially he can sometimes get a little nervous. When this happens he can be a little clumsy with his hands and feet. He’s fairly tall so this doesn’t always help. He often likes to display a good impression at first but he does try too hard on his first approach which usually leads to comical disaster. After some time he usually loses this trait but it doesn’t always mean that the other person will forget it.
Head Strong: As stated before, failure is not an option for Mateo. He can be very stubborn when it comes to reaching his goals. He tends to beat himself up for things that he can’t finish or do and even sometimes will look for someone else to blame if under the heat of frustration.
Phobia of Parrots: he is *afraid of parrotsHe won’t go near them after being bitten once as a child. Bright flashes of colors also startled him as well if within his peripheral view for this very reason.
Weapon: MGL (Multiple Grenade Launcher) It is a lightweight 40mm semi-automatice, 6 shot grenade launcher.
Additional Information
-He wears his beret almost always, whether it is indoors or outdoors. He often gets really bad ‘hat hair’ because of this while wearing it and likes to hide it.
-He hand writes letters to his old man because he doesn’t own a computer.
-Mateo is actually a good dancer. He loves to dance funk, samba, saloon dancing, some forms of the tango. He does not know how to waltz.
-His favorite genres of music are Rock, Classic Rock, Brazillian Funk, Bosa Nova, Old Jazz, and Carnival music.
-One of his favorite pass times is to watch old, black and white musicals and westerns.
